Characteristics And Skills Of Human Services Workers
The purpose of this paper is to write about the essential characteristics and skills of mental health human services workers.   When discussing the fundamental characteristics of a human services worker, Team B felt that communication skills are vital.   Without rapport and connection with the client, other skills cannot be effective.   Of course, the most fundamental ingredients for a human services worker are a compassionate, patient, caring heart and a desire to see each individual achieve a personal best in all areas of life.   "Without vibrant meaning, purpose, and direction, our life can never flower" (Doherty, 2009).

Everyday life presents different mental, emotional, and social challenges and rewards for the client that must be addressed by the human services professional; various forms of abuse such as physical, mental, drug, alcohol, sexual, and elderly abuse along with additional life conditions such as, poverty, financial hardships, unemployment, and illness are among the most familiar.   Many people just need a helping hand to get started on the way to a better life

For the human services worker, the essential characteristic of communication, beginning with the art of listening, is the foundation on which the relationship with the client is based.   Listening means putting aside personal work or thoughts and truly hearing, sometimes through anger or insecurity, what the other person is saying with his or her heart.

Consequently, compassion brings an emotional toll on the human services professional, so another essential trait is the knowing of one's limits and establishing these boundaries early in the association to prevent burnout which is a detriment among human services workers in all professions.   "It makes sense that an emotionally weary individual would be less disposed to make the emotional investment required in dealing with clients as individuals rather than as depersonalized cases" (Drake & Yadama, 1996).

The Ethics of the Human Services Worker

What do you do when an elderly stroke patient is demonstrating obvious signs of dementia, with uncontrollable and erratic behavior? When this patient must be firmly restrained, yet the patient equally deserves to be treated with the utmost respect in a gentle way that would be nothing less than expected for the treatment of a senior citizen?   In our lives, each of us has faced a moral dilemma, an ethical conundrum that spares little opportunity for hedging, and yet one could make a persuasive argument strictly ruled by one's head, or on the opposite spectrum, solely dominated by one's heart.   Countless such scenarios are played out in hospitals, halfway homes, hospices, and homeless shelters across the country when a human service professional, is faced with a challenge between head and heart.   In recent years, Human Services is evolving as a line of work rising in reaction to and in expectation of the path of individual desires and a person's tribulations (nationalhumanservices.org, 2008).
In scenario one, a staff person works among kids with developmental disabilities. The responsibility to take on additional duties for which she is not skilled falls upon her.   The issue at hand presents itself as her lack of qualification, and the fact that she was not hired for added responsibilities.   Consequently, the concerns that arise out of this dilemma are that she may not be properly trained for this position.   Furthermore, she may not know the proper protocol of client/professional relationships concerning her additional job tasks. Lastly, exposure to a lawsuit from the children and their guardians resulting from her taking on new roles that she was not hired (or educated) to...

Ethical Issues In Human Services Organizations
Ethical Issues in Human Services Organizations

Nutritional well-being plays an essential role in the overall health, independence, and quality of life of older persons as well as disabled persons. This nation has a responsibility to at risk populations such as the elderly. Today, there are close to 6 million seniors in the United States facing the threat of hunger. Some of these citizens were raised during the Great Depression, they went on to protect our independence in the Second World War and won the cold war. America's older citizens have been called the greatest generation by many.   It is morally wrong that the citizens that built this country should suffer starvation in this land of plenty, which they helped to form. Our country prides itself on taking care of other countries but tend to ignore the needs of its own citizens. We would much rather spend our money overseas to help a child in need than to reach out to our elderly or disabled neighbors and give them a hand.
Studies show that many older citizens aren't eating well. Those who may have lost their teeth find it hard to chew while others may have disabilities or functional impairments and are unable to shop for groceries or cook for themselves. Some either do not understand about the types of food that they need to help keep them healthy or simply cannot afford to buy the appropriate foods.
For older citizens, poor nutrition can lead to weight loss, debilitation, and lessened immunity to disease, confusion, increased frailty and weakness.   Blue Plate Delivery meals offer a solution to a family's worry about a loved one's poor eating habits or lack of ability to cook for themselves.
Blue Plate Deliveries promotes health and supports the option of independence by preparing and delivering nutritious, inexpensive meals to people in need. Our foundation intends to carry out its mission through an assortment of activities, specifically public awareness-building, education, fundraising, and...

Erp Solutions In Healthcare
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) software applications are designed to facilitate the systemwide integration of complex processes and functions across a large enterprise consisting of many internal and external constituents. Although most currently available ERP applications generally are tailored to the needs of the manufacturing industry, many large healthcare systems are investigating these applications.

Due to the significant differences between manufacturing and patient care, ERP-based systems do not easily translate to the healthcare setting. In particular, the lack of clinical standardization impedes the use of ERP systems for clinical integration. Nonetheless, an ERP-based system can help a healthcare organization integrate many functions, including patient scheduling, human resources management, workload forecasting, and management of workflow, that are not directly dependent on clinical decision making.

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are a new type of software that enables companies to integrate business functions--including finance, human resources, operations, sales and distribution, and marketing--across their organizations. Companies throughout the world are increasingly converting to these systems. Major corporations that have implemented ERP systems in recent years include IBM, Microsoft, Eastman Kodak, and Hershey. Purchases of ERP systems reached $10 billion in 1997, a 40 percent increase from 1996, and industry analysts suggest that rapid growth is likely to continue through 2001.[a]

To date, the growth of ERP systems has been concentrated in the manufacturing sector, but large healthcare systems have begun to take an interest in these applications. As a result, vendors are developing ERP applications that offer administrative and logistical solutions for large healthcare systems.

The key question for a healthcare provider is whether an application originally designed with the manufacturing industry in mind, focusing as...

ATO/ETO Robotics Manufacturer Feels Growing Pains

ATI Industrial Automation (ATI) manufactures robotic end effectors that enable its customers to achieve a high level of flexibility in robotic automation. ATI's flagship product is the Robotic Tool Changer, a robotic wrist coupling that locks and unlocks automatically, allowing a single robot to perform many different types of tasks. With thousands of highly-modular products and new configurations added every day, this fast-growing firm must accurately manage its product data in order to meet tight standards of quality and tough delivery deadlines. ATI, which spun off from Lord Corporation in 1989, is based in Apex, N.C. Since 1998, ATI has increased its revenue tenfold and become a market leader in robotics products. Several of its major customers include Chrysler Corporation (automotive), ABB (robotics), and Schunk (industrial automation). The firm has 110 employees in two locations. ATI subscribes to the lean manufacturing philosophy. Many of its products are engineered-to-order and assembled-to-order, as robotics configuration needs for each customer are unique. This environment poses a challenge for ATI: to maintain and track

an extremely large inventory of individual modular products along with a wide variety of product configurations that have their own SKU numbers. ATI is a growing company, and thus its product line expands every day. This growth presents even greater hurdles for inventory control and management, as well as in meeting on-time delivery goals.

Not to mention you then had to take it to your car, drive home and put it away or use it before you are done shopping. That is a lot of effort when you want to buy a Gift.

With the internet available these days there is now a much better way to do your shopping, especially if you are buying gifts for the holidays or a special occasion.

The online gift shop has become very popular with people all over the world. The reason for this is because there are so many benefits to shopping at a gift shop online. People are more busy then ever and don't have the time it takes to go shopping for themselves or someone else. That is when you go to the online gift shop to find what you need.

Here are some of the reasons why the online gift shop has become so popular all over the world.

The convenience of shopping at a gift shop online is the number one reason why people are turning to the internet to find what they are looking for.

Then there is the selection. Whne you shop on the internet you can find almost any gift you want at an online gift shop. You can place orders for things all over the world without ever leaving your home. So being able to get products worldwide is another huge reason why shopping at a gift shop online is the easiest and best way to shop.

You can shop anytime 24 hours a day around your schedule. If you don't have time to shop during the day you can do it in the middle of the night because the online gift shop never closes, not even on holidays. That is the best reason to do your shopping online at a gift shop website.

These are not all of the reasons a person would rather avoid a store and shop at an online gift shop. However, they are great reasons for shopping on the internet at a gift shop. You may even have your own reasons for shopping online.
